About

Welcome to my little corner of the internet — a place where recipes are more than just instructions and stories are as nourishing as the meals themselves.

I started Thesmophoria Diaries because a lot of the recipes I grew up with disappeared when my grandmother passed away. She cooked with instinct and love, rarely writing anything down. I found myself longing for a way to hold onto those flavors, traditions and memories.

This space is my way of keeping those recipes — and the feelings they carry — alive.

Some posts are recipes, carefully written and shared so they won’t be lost again. Sometimes there’s no recipe at all, just a reminder to breathe, connect and find calm in the midst of all the noise.

Here, I hope you’ll find a pause. A safe, warm place where food meets magic and where the cycles of life and seasons matter. Here a pot of simmering herbs can be just as powerful as a prayer.

Many of my recipes are inspired by my Greek roots and by a touch of everyday magic — the kind that lives in our kitchens, our traditions and our stories.

Why “Thesmophoria”?

Thesmophoria was an ancient Greek festival held in honor of Demeter and her daughter, Persephone. It was a celebration led entirely by women; a sacred gathering of community, nourishment and renewal.

When I was choosing a name for this blog, Thesmophoria felt right because it carries the same spirit I want this space to hold:

  • a celebration of food as more than sustenance
  • an honoring of women’s stories and rituals
  • a reminder that cooking can be a sacred act of care and connection

This blog is my modern-day Thesmophoria — a place to gather, share and remember.
I hope you leave feeling more nourished, connected and a little more at home.

Pull up a chair, pour yourself something warm and stay awhile.
